In the first six months of the current fiscal year of 2018-2019, the inflow of Myanmar’s Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) has surged more than 40% - receiving about US$1.9 billion in total. This is in comparison to the same period of the previous fiscal year, whereby Myanmar received about US$1.3 billion for over 80 projects. This is Myanmar’s first FDI increase since Daw Aung San Suu Kyi came to power in 2016.

The Myanmar Government has also taken additional steps to encourage the inflow of investments into the country and create opportunities for entrepreneurs. These steps include Myanmar’s Investment Promotion Plan and the establishment of a new Ministry, the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations. This new Ministry will make it easier for investors to invest in Myanmar through a single window system – enabling businesses to apply for and complete all the necessary procedures.
With Myanmar pushing for more upgrades on its infrastructure, significant capacity additions and developments are needed to meet the country’s growing thirst for power. This presents tremendous opportunities for companies in the power generation, transmission, distribution and electrical engineering sector. Aiming to strengthen Myanmar’s energy industry, MYANENERGY 2019 will serve as a one-stop platform where companies will be able to introduce innovative products and solutions, build key business relationships, increase market share and network. The trade show will feature cutting edge technologies, products and solutions from more than 250 companies and brands from 18 countries.
